World Table Tennis (WTT) is kicking off its first official events at the WTT Middle East Hub between 3 – 13 March 2021 in Doha, Qatar. Featuring two tiers of the new WTT event structure, there will be a WTT Contender event followed by a WTT Star Contender event in consecutive weeks.

To be held at the Lusail Sports Arena from September 20-25, WTT Star Contender Doha will be the third WTT event in Qatar in 2021 and offers 600 ITTF Table Tennis World Ranking points and a $200,000 prize purse.
World Table Tennis has announced that Qatar will host the WTT Middle East Hub in March next year. Doha is all set to host the WTT Middle East Hub for the 2021 season in the upcoming year. The 2020 edition of the tournament in South Korea was cancelled and moved due to the pandemic. The Middle East Hub will feature two rounds of the new event: the WTT Contender event on March 3-6, and the WTT Star Contender scheduled for the following week.
The 2021 Asian Table Tennis Championships was a table tennis tournament held in Doha, Qatar from 28 September to 5 October. China did not compete at the event due to a focus on the 2021 National Games of China and the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships as well as travel and quarantine restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The inaugural World Table Tennis (WTT) Middle East Hub gets underway on Sunday with the qualifying rounds at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall. The Middle East Hub will feature two tiers of the new event structure, with a WTT Contender series followed by a WTT Star Contender event in consecutive weeks. After two WTT events, the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) will also host the Olympic qualifiers from March 14 to 20.
